Vicky Buxton

 

I was born in Nottingham, England and from 1968 was educated in Dublin, Ireland. After leaving school I worked initially in small production potteries on the Isle of Skye and Conwy between 1975 and 1978.

Since then I am largely self taught, setting up my first studio and retail shop in Old Colwyn in 1978 where I produced domestic and decorative oxidized stoneware and porcelain.

In 1987 I moved to a more rural location in the Conwy Valley, renovating a cottage and building new workshops with my partner, Philip Owen, where I now make stoneware and porcelain, gas fired in a reduction atmosphere to cone 10 [c.1295C].
